LVMH founder Bernard Arnault’s email accidentally shared by UK government
British government apologizes for “administrative human error.”
LONDON — British ministers have been left red-faced after the government accidentally shared the email address of French business tycoon Bernard Arnault.
The billionaire founder of luxury giant LVMH is one of several guests of Monday’s International Investment Summit to have seen his personal email address accidentally shared with other invitees.
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) was sharing details about the summit, when “an administrative human error” caused them to accidentally cc some of their guests.
The French business mogul’s email was promptly made visible to the recipient list, sparking an apology from the department. “This was caused by an administrative human error, and we apologise to those affected,” said a spokesperson.
“We take data protection very seriously, and we have referred this issue to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO),” they added.
The blunder was first reported by The Sun newspaper.
